It&amp;rsquo;s because those additives are picky. They only &amp;ldquo;want&amp;rdquo; certain types of energy. If the lamp isn&amp;rsquo;t hitting those specific absorption peaks, the heat just bounces off the surface.&#xA;It&amp;rsquo;s a waste of power. Worse, it puts you at risk for thermal shock because the core of the glass stays cold while the surface gets blasted.&#xA;&lt;strong&gt;The trick is spectral matching.&lt;/strong&gt;&#xA;Instead of just throwing general heat at the piece, we tweak the infrared spectrum. We play around with the filament composition and the quartz envelope&amp;rsquo;s doping to shift the peak emission.&#xA;The goal? Make sure the photons actually get absorbed by the additives instead of just passing right through the glass like it&amp;rsquo;s not even there.&#xA;Now, there&amp;rsquo;s a catch.&#xA;Since we&amp;rsquo;re moving away from off-the-shelf parts, we use specialized coatings or filtered quartz to tighten up that heat profile. It&amp;rsquo;s much more targeted, but it makes the tubes a bit more sensitive. You can&amp;rsquo;t just crank the voltage to max right out of the gate. You&amp;rsquo;ve got to use a controlled ramp-up, or you&amp;rsquo;ll burn through the filament way faster than you&amp;rsquo;d like.&#xA;&lt;strong&gt;Bringing it into your shop&lt;/strong&gt;&#xA;When you&amp;rsquo;re wiring these into your preheating rig, keep in mind that your glass is going to react differently. Since the energy transfer is so much more direct, things heat up fast. Really fast.&#xA;You&amp;rsquo;ll probably need to tweak your PID controllers and recalibrate your soak times so you don&amp;rsquo;t accidentally overshoot your target temp.&#xA;We&amp;rsquo;ll give you all the spectral data you need. That way, you can pick the right sensors and cooling fans to handle the extra heat density hitting your workpiece.&lt;/p&gt;</description>
