
The Wall-Mounted Halogen Heater: Built for Pub Gardens, Not Just Specs
We built this wall-mount heater for the messy, wonderful reality of a pub garden. You need heat that shows up the second people walk in. It can’t take up a ton of space. And it has to keep everyone safe, even when the evening gets loud and a little unpredictable. So we made a shortwave infrared heater that leans on a high-intensity halogen element inside a quartz tube. The whole point is simple: give you focused warmth exactly where you want it, without turning the whole outdoor area into a stuffy box of hot air.
Power, Voltage, and the Real-World Numbers
This unit runs at 2500W on 400V. That high voltage isn’t just for show. It lets us deliver serious wattage while keeping the current lower. That matters because it means you can use smaller wiring and avoid voltage drop, even over longer runs. The tube is 300mm long, and that length helps concentrate the heat into a tight beam. That’s what gives you a lot of heat in a small footprint—perfect for warming individual tables and bar-edge seating. But here’s the honest part: packing 2500W into 300mm puts real thermal stress on the mounting area and nearby materials. So your electrical setup and mounting surface have to be up to the job, and you’ll want to plan for some local cooling to keep ambient temperatures in check.
Inside the Design: Halogen, Quartz, and the R7s Base
Inside the tube, the halogen cycle keeps the filament stable and prevents the lamp from blackening over time. That means consistent output for the life of the heater—no dimming like you get with standard infrared lamps. And the quartz envelope isn’t an afterthought. It handles the thermal shock of switching on and off quickly, and it stays highly transmissive for shortwave infrared. For the connection, we went with an R7s base. It gives you secure, two-point contact that can take the heat at the tube ends without loosening. And when it’s time to replace the lamp, it’s a straightforward drop-in.
