That’s why we use ceiling-mounted short-wave infrared (SWIR) emitters. Here is the secret: these things don’t bother with the air. Instead of fighting wind currents, they send out energy that travels at the speed of light. It doesn’t actually become “heat” until it hits something solid. In this case, that something is a person. It feels like stepping into a patch of sunlight on a cold winter day. The best part? There’s no waiting around. We set these up for “instant-on” performance. Because the filaments run so hot, the heat penetrates deep into your skin and muscles almost immediately. You don’t have to wait twenty minutes for a heater to kick in. If the “heat cone” isn’t mapped out correctly, you end up with annoying cold spots.
