
Stop Shivering While You Get Ready
Nobody likes that sudden shock of cold air when you step out of a hot shower and into a chilly dressing area. Most heaters try to warm up the entire room, which takes forever—especially in a damp bathroom. We do things differently. We use short-wave infrared (IR) tech. Instead of fighting the air, this heat goes straight to you and your mirror. It’s instant. The second you flip the switch, the filament hits its peak temperature. There’s no waiting around for an oil-filled radiator to slowly wake up. You feel the warmth on your skin immediately. It turns a freezing corner into a cozy spot in a matter of seconds. To make this work, we use high-purity quartz glass tubes. Why quartz? Because it can handle the “thermal shock” of going from ice-cold to blistering hot without cracking. Inside, we use a halogen-filled tungsten filament. It stops the metal from evaporating too fast, so the lamp doesn’t burn out even if you’re flicking it on and off all morning. And about those foggy mirrors—we’ve got that covered too. We tuck in thin-film elements or specific IR lamps that keep the glass just warm enough to stop condensation from forming. No more wiping the mirror with a towel just to see your face. Now, there are a few things to keep in mind during setup. Since these heaters pack a lot of punch into a tiny space, your wiring needs to be up to the task. You can’t just wing it; the initial power surge is real. Also, you have to be careful with the wattage. If you put too much heat in a cramped spot, you could actually damage the silver backing on the mirror or warp the frame. A bit of breathing room and a decent thermostat make all the difference. We usually build these to slide right into luxury fixtures.
